Up the Kawarau River
Looking up the river toward Lake Wakatipu, When I pulled off the highway, I found this little foot path that led from the highway down to the river’s edge, apparently used by one of the whitewater rafting companies. So I parked the car and walked down the private path.

Is it just me that ends up looking closely for Hobbits and alike?!
‘the highway’…that’s the first time I’ve heard the Kawerau gorge road described that way :)
‘glorified goat track’ is a more apt description of most central Otago roads
